| Oneonta is a small, picturesque area located within the Columbia River Gorge just east of Portland, Oregon, known primarily for its dramatic natural scenery and the iconic Oneonta Gorge. Nestled in a steep, narrow canyon carved into ancient basalt cliffs, Oneonta feels like a hidden world of moss-draped rock walls, fern-covered ledges, and cascading waterfalls.
This high resolution panoramic photograph is now one of the only ways to experience this stunning landscape as Oneonta Gorge is currently closed to the public and has been inaccessible since the Eagle Creek Fire of 2017, which severely impacted much of the Columbia River Gorge area. The fire caused landslides, unstable rock conditions, and heavy damage to trails and infrastructure in and around the gorge. |
