| The Chevron buildings in downtown Houston?1400 Smith Street and 1500 Louisiana Street?serve as the company?s central Houston campus and carry a notable architectural and historical legacy. The 50-story 1400 Smith, completed in 1983 as part of the Allen Center complex, features sleek glass cladding and a modernist design typical of early 1980s skyscrapers. Once home to Enron, Chevron acquired the tower in 2011 after leasing it in 2006. The adjacent 40-story 1500 Louisiana, designed by famed architect C?sar Pelli and completed in 2002, showcases a distinctive curved glass fa?ade and a dramatic rooftop crown, with an energy-efficient design that was cutting-edge for its time. Originally built for Enron but never occupied by them, Chevron purchased the tower in 2004 and fully moved in by 2006. A circular, enclosed skybridge connects the two towers, symbolizing the integrated campus. In 2024, Chevron began a $66.5 million renovation of 1500 Louisiana, set to complete by August 2025. Although a third tower?1600 Louisiana?was proposed in 2013, it remains unbuilt. Together, the towers reflect Houston?s role as a global energy capital and Chevron?s commitment to the city?s urban core. |
